Chennai: Raaj Kamal Films International posted a riddle on Sunday evening — "Some eyes say it all. The charisma arrives today at 7:02 PM" — and by Monday morning the answer was official.

Nayanthara has joined the cast of Dharman, Rajinikanth's next film. "THE AURA IS DOUBLE. Welcoming the one and only Nayanthara to DHARMAN," the banner wrote, with a silhouette of the two actors from the set.

It is their sixth film together. The pair first shared the screen in Chandramukhi (2005), followed by Sivaji (2007), Kuselan (2008), Darbar (2020) and Annaatthe (2021). Five years after Annaatthe, the reunion is the part fans are actually celebrating.

Dharman is directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, his first with Rajinikanth. He previously made Oh My Kadavule (2020), Ori Devuda (2022) and Dragon (2024).

Kamal Haasan produces under Raaj Kamal Films International, with R Mahendran of Turmeric Media as co-producer. Anirudh Ravichander scores the music, the Anbariv duo handles action, Niketh Bommi is the cinematographer and Pradeep E Ragav the editor. Raashii Khanna, Simran and Yogi Babu are in the cast, and Rajinikanth is reported to play a stylish doctor.

Marimuthu has said two schedules are complete and the shoot will be wrapped by October 2026. "Rajinikanth sir is in a Gen-Z vibe, and the film will be a very likeable one," he said at an event. The film is expected in 2027.

There is a second Rajinikanth project in the air as well — a film with Kamal Haasan as co-star, tentatively titled KHxRK, to be directed by Nelson and bankrolled by Red Giant Movies.

For now, though, the banner's five words are doing the work: the aura is, apparently, double.
