Mumbai: Energy, connectivity and current regional developments framed the trilateral meeting between India, the US and the UAE. External affairs minister S. Jaishankar, US secretary of state Marco Rubio and UAE deputy PM and foreign minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan exchanged views on these issues, Jaishankar said.

Jaishankar also held a separate meeting with the UAE foreign minister, reviewing cooperation in trade, investment, energy, technology, transport and logistics, defence and education. The talks stressed expanding energy and economic cooperation through India-US and India-UAE ties.

Rubio's India visit also had a Mumbai leg, where chief minister Devendra Fadnavis received him at the Gateway of India and presented him a traditional shawl. At the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Rubio paid tribute to victims of terrorism.

The conversation turned to West Asia at the end. West Asia remains a matter of deep concern for India, Jaishankar told Al Nahyan, adding that India will keep working for peace through dialogue and diplomacy.
