Chandigarh: An Enforcement Directorate team arrived at the Moga home of AAP MLA Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora in the early hours of Wednesday.

Rakesh Kumar Bajaj, Senior Deputy Mayor of Moga Municipal Corporation, told reporters the team came around 3 am. "They haven't allowed anyone to enter; they've locked the place down," he said. "They aren't even letting water or tea be taken inside." A second location, described as a flat, was also being searched.

Arora is the Aam Aadmi Party's Punjab Mahila Wing president. There was no official word on which case the search relates to.

Bajaj criticised the action. "They are only conducting raids in states where their own party is not in power," he said, adding that local residents wanted to be allowed inside to witness the proceedings.

Punjab votes in an assembly election next year, which has made agency action in the state a running political argument.

On the same day, ED searches at the Hoshiarpur residence of former Punjab minister and Congress leader Sunder Sham Arora ran into a second day. That case is linked to the alleged transfer of a Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation plot in Mohali.

Bajaj said the team sealed the lane, which left residents and party workers outside. "We are demanding that we be allowed inside. Whatever is happening, it should happen in our presence," he said.

There was no immediate response from the AAP, and no confirmation of the case the search relates to.
