New Delhi: Diljit Dosanjh's Aura India Tour 2026 opens at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Friday evening, and the singer has spent the last 24 hours asking ticket holders to leave their cars at home.
About 70,000 people are expected, according to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, and the venue has no parking.
In an Instagram Live on Thursday, Dosanjh explained why. "We are in Delhi, and we have completed our rehearsals. Delhi Police has asked me to make a request to all of you. The Delhi Metro will remain open until midnight for our shows. The venue, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, does not have parking facilities, so you won't be able to park there. It would be better to take the Metro instead, as the station is very close to the stadium," he said.
The clock is tight. Gates open at 4 pm, fans have been asked to be in by 6.30 pm, the set begins at 7 pm and the show must end at 10 pm. Permission was granted for a single day with a hard cut-off, Dosanjh said, so some songs will be dropped. "Jind Mahi Aaja Ve" will not be performed; "Sanson Ki Mala" will. His next Delhi show, he said, will be in 2028.
DMRC has extended services till midnight on all lines except the Airport Express Line and Rapid Metro Gurugram, added trips, kept rakes on standby and stretched the QR ticket window on the Delhi Metro Sarthi app by an hour. The nearest station is JLN Stadium on the Violet Line.
Delhi Traffic Police have barred movement on stretches around the stadium from 1 pm to midnight: Bhishm Pitamah Marg, Lodhi Road, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, Arch Bishop Marg, 4th and 5th Avenue Road, the Barapullah Flyover between INA and Jangpura, Dayal Singh College Road and internal roads of CGO Complex and Lodhi Colony. Six diversion points are in place, with two more if needed.
Cabs and autos will pick up and drop at three points: Arch Bishop Marg, Lal Masjid in Pragati Vihar and the Kushak Nala bus depot red light. Ambulances get priority.
Private security has been raised from 400 guards to between 1,500 and 2,000, and a 500-700 metre ring around the stadium will be pedestrian-only.
After Delhi, the tour goes to Indore on November 15, Ahmedabad on November 21, Mumbai on November 27, Bengaluru on November 29 and Lucknow on December 5.
