₹665 crore before a single ticket is sold: the arithmetic behind SRK's King

Shah Rukh Khan's King, directed by Siddharth Anand and releasing on December 24, has reportedly locked in ₹665 crore in pre-release business from distribution, streaming, satellite and music rights. Trade reports put its landing cost near ₹550 crore, which means it may need a global haul of about ₹800 crore to turn a profit. The first song was released on his birthday, November 2.
