Seven named, murder case filed: CBI takes over a 25-year-old's custodial death
The CBI's Hyderabad branch has registered a murder and criminal conspiracy case against an inspector, four constables, a home guard and a private individual over the death of Gade Sai Krishna at Krishnalanka police station in Vijayawada.

Lehra Bai, 35, from Chhattisgarh, fought a case over the alleged custodial death of her husband, Shravan Suryavanshi Tamre, who was arrested in January 2024 on allegations of possessing mahua liquor and died days later. The Supreme Court criticised the conduct of officials, ordered ₹25 lakh interim compensation, a CBI investigation and criminal proceedings against officials found guilty.
