Hyderabad: A Dussehra display in the city's Sitarambagh area triggered a clash between BRS and Congress workers on Tuesday, after reports that BRS supporters replaced an effigy of Lord Ram with one of party chief K. Chandrashekar Rao and cast Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy as Ravan.

The incident took place at the Ram Maidan in Sitarambagh. According to accounts of the episode, the KCR effigy was shown aiming an arrow at Revanth Reddy's face. Workers of the two parties came face to face and there was a scuffle for a while.

A Congress leader later addressed workers and attacked the BRS sharply. He was quoted as threatening the rival camp, saying the party would 'bury them' next time. The Congress used the incident to target the BRS.

Earlier in the day, Revanth Reddy visited the Anjaneya Swamy temple in his native village of Kondareddipalle in Nagarkurnool district with his family. Locals gave him a warm welcome and a rally was held along his route.

The episode is the latest flashpoint between the ruling Congress and the Opposition BRS in Telangana. The two parties have traded protests and accusations in recent months.

Local police appealed for calm in the area.
