Chennai: Scene has done in two days what most Tamil releases hope to do in a week. The Jithu Madhavan film, with Suriya, Nazriya Nazim and Naslen in the lead, has grossed Rs 81.5 crore worldwide since its November 6 release.
Trade estimates put its second-day India net at Rs 20.25 crore from 5,687 shows, with Rs 16.50 crore from the Tamil version and Rs 3.75 crore from the Telugu one. That takes the India net to Rs 39.40 crore and the India gross to Rs 45.75 crore. Overseas, day two added Rs 18 crore, pushing the overseas total to Rs 35.75 crore.
Reviews and word of mouth have been kind. At this pace the film is being spoken of as a likely entrant to the Rs 100-crore club, which for a star-driven thriller opening in a crowded Diwali window is not the automatic outcome it once was.
The digital rights are already the next conversation. Reports say Netflix has bought the streaming rights for Rs 88 crore, in a deal that carries a four-week OTT window. On that reading, the film could arrive on the platform roughly 28 days after its theatrical release, which points to the first weekend of December 2026.
Neither Netflix nor the makers have confirmed a date. A strong theatrical run can push a streaming premiere back, and the film's hold over the next fortnight will decide how long it stays in cinemas first.
The story follows a young couple who marry for love and settle into a happy life. The husband buys a house in a hill station to fulfil a wish his wife has carried for years, and the couple's luck turns once they move in. The film's action is part of the draw, including a reported 70-foot jump into water that Ashok Selvan performed without a body double.
