New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk have set a target of doubling bilateral trade by 2030, and agreed to press for the early signing and implementation of the India-EU free trade agreement.

The talks were held during the Polish Prime Minister's visit to India from October 21 to 23. He was accompanied by a high-level delegation of about 100 leading CEOs and industry representatives.

The two leaders showed readiness to deepen cooperation in manufacturing, defence, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, green energy, space and nuclear energy. India said the India-EU agreement could create new export opportunities for machinery, chemicals, plastics and engineering goods.

In financial year 2025-26, India exported goods worth about $2.8 billion to Poland and imported $1.2 billion. India congratulated Poland on crossing the $1 trillion GDP mark.

Both countries underlined the need for reform and expansion of the UN Security Council. Poland expressed support for India's membership of a reformed council as well as for India's candidature for a non-permanent seat for 2028-29.

The two leaders condemned terrorism in the strongest terms and condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025. They also discussed direct flights, maritime cooperation and connectivity through the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.

Poland is seen as a gateway for Indian businesses looking to expand into Central and Eastern Europe. Poland welcomed Indian investment and described its environment as favourable for expansion. During the October 21-23 visit, industry leaders in the delegation discussed opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.
