MMKY - Assistance to Network of Fish Seed Growers Under Early Breeding Programme
About this scheme
The scheme “MMKY – Assistance to Network of Fish Seed Growers under Early Breeding Programme” was launched by the Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Department, Government of Odisha. It aims to increase the availability of quality fish fingerlings throughout the state during the onset of the monsoon season. Through this scheme, input assistance for raising fish spawn to fry and fry to advanced fingerling size during the early breeding period from March to June is provided to individuals, fish farmers, Women Self Help Groups, Primary Fishermen Cooperative Societies, and private entrepreneurs, enterprises, or institutions. The scheme is implemented by the Directorate of Fisheries through District Fisheries Officers and their field functionaries under the supervision of the Zonal Deputy Director of Fisheries. The scheme supports fish seed rearing in earthen tanks, bio-floc tanks, and reservoir captive nurseries for the production of fry and advanced fingerlings greater than 100 millimetres in size. Government assistance is provided one time per beneficiary per year and is limited to a single crop cycle of seed rearing. The subsidy is released after completion of one crop cycle based on actual water spread area, proportionate spawn stocking, and verification of seed rearing farms and GST bills. The scheme is implemented in all 30 districts of Odisha.
